Our “Central” Phoenix Support Meeting Details
Date: 3rd Monday of each month
Location: First Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC), 1407 N. 2nd St., Phoenix (block south of McDowell on 2nd St.)
7:00pm: Sign-in, browse PFLAG literature, check-out books/videos from our “lending” library, grab some refreshments, socialize, etc.
7:15pm: Official start of PFLAG meeting; General announcements
7:20pm: Guest speaker/program (Have a good speaker to suggest? Let us know!)
7:55pm: Break (run to the bathroom, grab a cookie and head for a support group!)
8:00pm: Support/sharing groups:
- General sharing group(s)–all are welcome
- If requested, we can also arrange ‘focused’ sharing groups for:
- LGBTQ+ teens & family
- LGBTQ+ spouses
- Transgender individuals & family
9:00pm: Meeting ends (note: some support groups will run past 9pm if situations warrant.)
This support location is a short walking distance from the Metro Light Rail Station at Central Ave. and McDowell Rd.
See Metro Light Rail information and schedules. Transit: McDowell/Central Ave Light Rail Station (0.2 mi W). PFLAG Phoenix is unable to arrange transportation to/from our support meetings — this is a necessary precaution for our volunteers and for liability purposes.
CONFIDENTIALITY is REQUIRED from ALL ATTENDEES
Every attendee attending our support meetings MUST adhere to our confidentiality requirement. Nothing said at a support meeting and no one seen at a support meeting can be shared with anyone else outside of the support meeting. This means no talking with friends, family members, co-workers, etc. outside the support meeting, and no sharing of information on the Internet including social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. If anyone becomes aware of anyone else not following this confidentiality requirement, please report it to a PFLAG Phoenix Board member or any of our support group facilitators for further actions.
